Ashland-West Holmes Career Center graphics students honored

The Graphic Communications classes at Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center entered 28 projects in the Northeast Ohio Craftsmen Club competition this past spring.

Of those entries, 11 were chosen for awards.

The winning students were invited to the Student Night Banquet and Gallery of Superb Printing Awards Ceremony held at the Venue Banquet Center in Tallmadge. The Graphic Communications class is taught by Barry Sponsler, instructor, and Debby Dever, aide.

Senior award winners were: Jessica Assis, Loudonville: Gold Award, Creative/Illustration Art/Traditional/Color Art ("Michael Cera" painted portrait), and Bronze Award, Screen Printing/Textile 2 or 3 Color ("Some Gave All/Purple Heart" T-shirt design); Breanna Karper, Loudonville: Bronze Award, Creative Computer Art/Color Illustration ("Three Dog Night" album cover design); Kat Minor, Ashland: Gold Award, Calendars/4 Color Process ("Year of Rust" calendar); Hollie White, Loudonville: Gold Award, Screen Printing/Textile 2 or 3 Color ("Assassin's Creed" T-shirt design).

Junior award winners were: Cheyenne Christine, West Holmes: Silver Award, Creative/Production Design/4 Color ("Rose Thorn" book cover); Felicity Etzwiler, West Holmes: Bronze Award, Stationery/2 or 3 color ("Rosemary's Flowers"); Cameron Finley, Hillsdale: Gold Award, Posters/1 Color ("Sherlock Holmes poster"); Kailyn Ritenour, Mapleton: Gold Award, Invitations & Greeting Cards/1 Color ("Country Wedding"); Mason Wrobel, Ashland: Bronze Award, Stationery/4 color ("Very Vintage Vinyl"); Hannah Yerian, Ashland: Gold Award, Posters/4 Color Process ("Beauty & the Beast").
